Asia Outdoor Advertising 2007

Did you go to the Asia Outdoor Advertising 2007 exhibition at Suntec City between 24th to 26th October last week? I did.

I must say that the exhibition was quite the disappointment. Maybe because it was held during weekdays, the turn out wasn’t as great as the organisers had expected. Plus, the exhibition itself didn’t actually showcase really creative advertising. Maybe that wasn’t the aim, but from the name of the exhibition, I was expecting that. Hrmm. Anyway, most of the booths there were taken up by printer companies, banner-making companies and also erm… More printer companies. There was this one exception though which got my jaw dropping a few times.

Photoshop Rebranding.

adobe photoshop rebranding
Say Hello to a new Photoshop logo. Well not really.

indesign publishing softwareThis is the new Photoshop Family logo. Photoshop family of products now has its own logo and tag-line; See What’s Possible. Each individual product are still sticking to their 2 letter, web 2.0 looking logo-set. (see above, example of an Adobe product, InDesign) I really think Adobe, being the leader in image editing software, could have done better. It looks like the old PBS logo, the guys who brought you elmo and big bird.

While the logo doesn’t really blow me away, it depicts a cheap web 2.0 brand. Lets put the family logo aside and lemme direct you to the intro video, which shows how different people in different profession use the Adobe Photoshop Family. Take a look, you’ll be amazed!

So, tell me what you think of the new logo.

Leave a comment, or ten!

This is Mr.Malique signing off saying goodbye and be kind to Adobe. :)

Tutorial : How to create your own clones!

Learn how to clone yourself - Just like Mr Malique does it!

Have you ever wondered how Mr Malique creates his clones? Well, I’m here to teach you how to clone yourself just like the way Mr Malique does it!

Yeap, for my maiden post on this blog, I’m gonna do an in-depth tutorial on how to create your own clones, using Adobe Photoshop.

Here’s a list of tools you will need to be able to do this tutorial along with me.

  1. A digital camera.

You got a spankin’ brand new DSLR like Yanni’s Nikon D80? Great! You got a point-and-shoot consumer camera? No problem too! What? You want to use a film camera? Erm… Possible… But will be more than doubly troublesome. Let’s keep things simple and I shall assume you own/can borrow a digital camera. :)

  2. A tripod.

A must. Okay, not exactly a must, but it will make things so much easier. Easy is the keyword in this tutorial, okay?

  3. Adobe Photoshop.

Any version will do, as long as it supports layer masking. If the graphics program you’re using allows you to mess around with layer masking, you’d probably be able to adapt the steps here to fit that program.

I shall be using Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended.

  4. Of course, you will need a computer. I shall assume you have access to one since you’re reading this entry. :P Mac or PC, whatever your choice may be, it will suffice. I will be using a PC.

Being Busy (and introducing a co-writer!)

On October 28, 2007 in General Talk, News, Personal

Its been a week since i started at the new workplace. Everything is smooth sailing and i’m loving it. Its a pretty fast paced environment and designs are churned every 10 minutes. Madness! But i like it. :P

Since i joined them on the 3rd week of the month, which is crunch time for publishing, i got a taste of the rush. Second day on the job, i went home at 1200 am and boy… it was a blast! But with great colleagues, they made the staying late fun. :)

design & photography tutorial specialist And oh, Say Hello to Zul!
Zul has been appointed the position of Tutorial Specialist and will be co-authoring this site. Apart from cool design sightings, he will be also be touching on photography, which most of you love! Zul is a professional designer by day and a gardener by night. How he maintain gardens at night, i have no idea! He doesn’t bite, give a shoutout and welcome Zul to the team! :D

Stay tuned for a better site, with great tutorials (design & photography) and hopefully you will benefit from it.

This is Malique signing off, enjoy the rest of your weekend and eat your veggies!
