Cabbies, gotta love em!
I met some weird cabbies for the past week. And i lived to tell.
On Tuesday night, i boarded a taxi driven by a very young chap. In his early 30′s i bet. The ride started off real well with him greeting me with a jovial “Good evening Mister, where to?” and followed by the crappy “Which way do you wanna go?”. I almost went “By sea, please!” but decided not to when i saw his mug shot of his taxi drivers license thingy on the windscreen. He looked like the MAD magazine guy. I kid you not.
I noticed him flicking the switches. Like the a/c, the radio, even the hazard light button. Talk about major OCD. It was almost rhythmic. Aircon, button, decrease radio volume. Aircon, volume up, button. It sounded like Stomp the musical. The boy’s got groove!
Next is a story of a very cautious driver. He keeps glancing (well technically I won’t call it glancing, he literally moved his head to view the mirrors) at the left side mirror, then the right side mirror then the rear view mirror. Again, its got rhythm. What is it with me and hardcore OCD cabbies? I can imagine him stopping the car and doing a musical routine ala Jason Mraz’s “You and I both”
Unfortunately the story doesn’t end here. The usual scenario, 11pm-ish, at the office building. It was a lady driver. I thought to myself..”Ok I hope she’s not suffering from any strange OCD”. Boy I was right! She wasn’t. She was perfectly fine. Fine and dandy. Thank you God!
A sweet, courteous lady probably in her late early 40’s. It started off really well until she splurted something that I can’t recall and the word ‘mother’. Hah. This lady rocks!
I hope to meet more interesting and weird cabbies. But all these cost a bomb. But thanks to claims, yeay!
I’m sure you have your share of weird taxi drivers. Share ‘em with us!
