Judge a book by its cover! Really!

I was passing by the mamak stall and i was greeted by a pair of familiar eyes. Mark Phooi was on the cover of The Executive magazine. I must say that black & white shot of him looks good! See those broad shoulders? He was a swimming instructor! I don’t know him personally(i wished), but i have been following his success.
Who is Mark Phooi? Mr Phooi has been in the design business for god-knows-how-long. He started of as a one-man-show running a design firm called Lancer Design.
After years of hard work and developement, he is now CEO of FirstMedia. Compared to the one-man-show he had, FirstMedia now has 20 design studios locally and regionally. 20. Gosh.
He is also the Principal of FiDS. First International Design School, i might want to get my hands onto their Design Management course.
Now on to the magazine itself.
Gosh. I know they are trying to get that corporate look, you know.. but hey, the design dynamics are not doing well! The themes clash, and the page layout is not good for the eyes. May i honestly say, it looks like crap.
Well worth its price tag. $4.50. (other mainstream mags go for $7-$8 average)
The least they could have done is to have a better logo. (and have their featured guest of the month evaluate them!)
