Jason Mraz. Where do i begin?

What was meant to be a post birthday present, turned into a spectacular experience that’s permanently etched in my head. That man was born to perform.
Tickets were sold out almost 4 days after sales were commenced, but i have a lil secret to tell you. That, at the end of this entry.

Mraz sang some of my favourite tunes like Who Needs Shelter and Mr Curiosity, apart from his other radio friendly hits. Too bad he didn’t sing Please Don’t Tell Her. I would love to hear that live. And Plane and Bella Luna…
Beautiful Mess was beautifully rendered and it was bloody beautiful i tell ‘ya.
I observed that the crowd were more riled up with his radio hits, but not hyped at all with his other album tracks.

Who’s Joyce Chua again? Or was it Chia? I don’t know. She and Mraz did a duet for yes, that song, “Lucky“.
I shall not comment on her performance/stage persona/chemistry but her stylist is in deep trouble i bet. Just look at the photo will you? Tell me what on earth is that…thing?!

And oh, because of the ‘full house’ , the missus and i didnt manage to sit beside each other. Instead, we were given tickets one row apart. I didn’t mind. But hey, LOTS of people decided not to turn up (o’rly?) on our block so the missus and i enjoyed the show side by side, shouting like teenage groupies. Ah, bliss..
So for those who didn’t get any tickets, i know how you feel. (especially Noi hehehe)

So that’s the end of the show. Next up, the battle of the carpark! It took me 30′ish minutes to get out of that damned carpark because some people were not clever enough to give way and basically be considerate. Bah humbug. Supper by the east coast beach made up for it. Yummeh~

Where have i been? What have i been doing?

So many questions, so little time.

I have been living life like how it should be. By not being a slave in the corporate world.

But i’d love to land myself a full time gig. Oh hey, what’s that coming over the hill, it’s the economic tsunami! Everyday i hear of friends/ex-colleagues/relatives being laid off from work. Great.

I’ve been away from the internet for more than a month due to unforeseen circumstances. And oh boy, do i miss the interwebs or what! Hell no. It feels good waking up early, making a nice cuppa (robusta brew from my Vietnam trip, yes i bought loads of coffee!), reading the papers and having my cat gracefully lie on it every few minutes. Speaking of newspapers, have you been reading? It’s filled with nothing but sad, negative news. Someone got killed, robbed. Some property got burnt. Etc. What ever happened to good happy endings godammit.

Let’s sidetrack. The Budget ’09. Oh, kudos to the gothere.sg team for being mentioned as one of the good example of startups! Heard about the CNG tax being waived till 2012 (or was it 2013?) Hell no. They are taxing air now? Outstanding!

Another thing i’ve been re-evaluating is my life as a human being, who will die one day. Have you ever wondered what happens when you die? Lets not talk about ‘the next life’ and reincarnation. Death. How does it feel like? What happens next? Does your soul wander around like casper the friendly ghost?

Ok i’m veering too far away from this very random blog post. Hurr. I’m trying to relive this dead site of mine with frequent blog posts and hopefully try to get my co-author to write a new design tutorial. I believe his tutorials rocks everyone’s socks off. Every month this site drinks about an average of 50GB of bandwidth cos of those cool tutorials. Zul i know you’re reading. Hurr.

Mom. I love my mom. She’s been under the weather lately and i’m trying hard to control her diet.

E2. I love my cat. She’s like a non stop dose of cuteness everyday.

The missus. Every single second.

E2 is a rescued cat from Zouk. Don’t ask why.
Ok ok, the brother works at Zouk, and he rescued E2 one day cos apparently SPCA was doing their rounds. (and you know what they might do next) I don’t really know her age, but my best bet would be somewhere around 5 months. E2 was brought home quietly in a Dom Perignon (haha!) box, cos mom wasn’t a fan of pets.

We never had pets before. Oh well, except for the gerbil who ran away. Mom was never a fan of pets. Did i say that already? Oh, yeah.

E2 became part of the family on July 9th. I came back from work (3am dammit!!) and there was a kitten in the house! How excited i was! I remember asking Nad for tips on keeping a cat. Mom’s initial plan was to keep her till she’s big enough to fend for herself. Eventually, we grew attached to her and we treated E2 like part of the family.

Curiosity killed the cat, so the saying goes. Being young and very curious, it was natural for E2 to try out new things. Today she decided to learn about height. And it was not a good lesson.

E2 fell from the 12th storey…but she survived. Oh my God! Emotions were pouring out this morning… and the vet said this incident was a miracle. A miracle indeed! She is warded for 3 days in the pet hospital and there were no broken bones. We are hoping for the best.

I am thankful for her nine lives. Never will i leave my sights off her again. Never.

We miss you E2. We love you. Get well soon, i bought you your favourite mackerel and chicken.

UPDATE

E2 is back home! Yay!
She’s fine but very quiet.
On antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medication.
Vet said 2 weeks hardcore resting. No climbing, no naughty things. Mom called me up and said “The vet gave E2 2 weeks MC, no need to go school!” Hahah..
And she lets me pet her more now…good girl! Sayang dia!

As usual, i kinda messed up our annual celebration. After a good lunch, we exchanged gifts. She got me a beautiful watch! Truly, madly and deeply lovin’ it! But all i got for her was something…cheap. Call me el-cheapo, but i tried.

All i got for her was an ezlink card

..and some cupcakes.

I would rather not discuss about the recent issue over at ping.sg. I’m not into politics online and offline but i gotta quote Barrack’s campaign slogan. If you think about it, and in depth, we can make a change. This does not only applyto ping.sg. You should apply it to your own life too.

Life is short. Believe it or not. Today i might be blogging, tomorrow you might be leaving condolence comments on this blog. All i want to say is live life as it is. It’s a never ending journey till the ‘time’ comes. With this journey, i want to live high, live mighty..live righteously.

I agree that every one have their differences. Tom & Dick might not like how Harry behaves, but if they were to understand each other’s behaviour (who/what/when/where/why he did this), they can co-exist within each other’s life and get along well.

I was reading Qiaoyun‘s blog yesterday when i was doing some research on a restaurant that is located in some ulu place. Somewhere far. Somewhere millitary. NTT twittered bout it and it tickled my curiousity. What am i talking about?

Buffalo Wings. Sweet lord.

Sunset Grill is located at the Singapore Flying Club, which is inside Seletar Camp. As we entered the area, it was like a scene from Memphis Belle. Old hangars, planes and what could possibly be the Concorde. Oh you know the now ‘defunct’ supersonic jet. The nose tip was so familiar. It must be a concorde!
I don’t know, any plane specialist let me know, yah?

I drove in with the tune of Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow by The Shirelles playing in my head. That song was the most suitable track i could ever think of. It was perfect! And oh, the residential area also reminded me of the old times. (wait i am not that~ old) Black and white ‘colonial’ houses were a common sight. I could imagine what it was like. British soldiers, with their family. It must have been a good era. I felt in peace.

So back to the wings. We ended up ordering more then what we planned. Nachos, fried button mushrooms, 2 mains and of course the almighty buffalo wings. Rumour has it, that the buffalo wings has a maximum firing hot level of 30! The levels indicate how hot it would be. 1 being a wuss and 10 probably out of your freaking mind. My initial plan was to order a level 7. But the kind and accommodating waiter advised me not to. He saved our lives.

Eating at Sunset Grill gives you an experience that you’ll never forget. The place is rustic, charming on its own and full of hungry mosquitoes. How does dining by an airplane runway sound? I know. I feel the same way too. I’ve never seen that many landings and takeoffs within 2 hours. I must add that this is not a place for people who can’t stand most things. Like ants. Like the hot scorching sun. Or smoke from the mosquito coil. You must know what you’re in for and please stop being a fussy, bitchy ‘im-a-paying-customer-so-i-deserve-the-best’ singaporean. And i really mean it. There was this couple who was getting on my nerves. Urgh i shall not go into further.

Dining at Sunset Grill has its ups and downs. You enjoy a tax & service charge-free dining experience. You know how bitchy those ‘+++’ could be on your bill. Food is superb (trust me) but the price is kinda on the steep side. Damage was done (and i don’t mind at all, i had a great time) and damage was $102 buckaroos.

This is a good place to relax and have a jug of your preferred beverage with your preferred close friends. Nachos and cheesy fries too, perhaps. Milk would also be a wise choice if you’re going for some level 10 buffalo wings. I really find the location somewhat a quick getaway from the bustling (and sometimes irritating) city life. Like a temporary escape. Thank you for the great experience. I will definitely come again.

Oh and happy anniversary darling.

How much does it cost to travel from Singapore to Wessex, England; UK? Does the bus travel on water? Or does it transform into an air carrier? I have no idea at all.

Today me and the missus had an adventure. Like a covert op, gracefully and undetected, she escaped from the dreaded lab and we went shopping! Haha! We decided to spend Tuesday together. Oh my god, a weekday ,1pm..together! What a rare scenario.

So yeah, Wessex. I love taking the A*Star shuttle bus (which is sooooo super god-sent). Its like taking a mini-excursion around one-north (why la why, biopolis is located in the south-west of the country, why call it north?) Wessex is a residential estate near the biopolis/fusionopolis. That explains! Probably where postdocs/research fellows party. Geeks.

So we caught Kungfu Panda, which was good. No wait, the movie was good but the crowd wasn’t.
“Mommy why is the panda talking?”
“bam bam bam bam!”
“SLURRRRRRRP, i want more daddy!”

Oh god. Ohhhh God.

You only live once.

It wasn’t fun at all. Just take a look at the picture. OMG.

I swear i’m not stepping into a hospital ever again. First, there wasn’t any wireless connection. So my ipod can’t connect to wifi and so i can’t check emails.  7 days without checking my inbox is hell i tell ‘ya!
Sick people need to check emails too godammit! When i finally got home, i got 92 in my gmail inbox and 40+ in my work mail inbox. Wow.

Second, the food. Urgh. Let’s not go there.

Third, i was all alone. 6 beds in total, but im the only soul there. Kinda freaky at night, but i love it. hahha.

Today i end my hospitalization leave, back to work tomorrow (if i still have my job that is)
