I’ve been getting 500 internal server errors for the past 2 months or so. I’m not sure if you guys ever got that miserable page. If you did, i’d like to extend my apologies. Oh, by the way, this is a rant. ![]()

This is rather a sad thing really. I’ve read so many good reviews and experiences on this particular vendor. I have a reseller account with them, and all my other sites are hosted under it. It all started when i was experiencing error 500. I emailed their technical support team.
All i get is a freaking template email answer.
The URLs are coming up fine at our end. Please check now and if any issue persist please get back to us with the exact URL where you are having the error and the steps to recreate the error at our end.
A few days later i still get the dreaded error. I emailed support again, asking them to rectify the situation. You guessed it right. I got another template email answer!! I hopped over to their technical/customer service forum and started a thread in regards with my problem. YES, i got another template answer. A template forum answer this time! I penned out my impression of the company i have so far, or whatever’s left of it and some staff replied he will deal with the matter personally. That is a good move. The only good move i think. My consumer confidence increased by 1 percent.
Lets cut the rant short. They concluded that the script i am running is consuming too much memory, followed by some mambo jumbo that i had no idea what it was. But i could see that favicon.ico was part of the internal server error. Now wait! You’re saying that Wordpress is taking too much of the cpu usage and a freaking favorite icon is also part of the problem??!! Ho ho ho, you gotta be kidding me.
I played it cool and asked what can i do to rectify the current problem. Be prepared folks.
Hello,
Try to reduce the entries per page (if possible to 5) in the blog at www.mrmalique.com.

What a joke! Oh craaaaaaaaaap! Wake up!
Just so you know, this is the first time i encounter with a webhost saying Wordpress is consuming too much memory and i should limit to 5 entries per page.
Support staff did a good move.
Hello,
I am moving this ticket to the manager.

Your scripts are being killed automatically by our Resource Monitor script.
Below are a few suggestions. If you need any assistance applying the changes below, please let me know.1. Remove custom/extra WP plugins/components/modules from your WP installation.

Yoyo,
Consider changing your webhost.
Yer bettcha bet that getting a webhost locally has its advantage over overseas.
Think is high time for you to change your webhost if they still give 500 server notice. On a sidenote, click over to http://www.adsighted.com. This is one host that always pride in customer service.
try http://www.fivio.com
oh that’s terrible
try http://www.hostgator.com
Horrible, just horrible. Time to pack your bags?
Dump the bugger!
Actually, this is becoming more and more common as there are WordPress Plugins and many scripts out there that have bugs in them and cause problems with the latest version of WordPress which do increase the number of hits on your server.
This is combined with a VERY annoying trend of cheap web hosts trying to cram too many shared host sites on one database. That’s probably what is also killing you.
Ultimate Tag Warrior, Global Translator, and other WordPress Plugins are causing this problem and some have updates and some don’t. Update all of your WordPress Plugins, as well as WordPress.
Also look at all the junk you have on your blog that puts unnecessary hits on your server and database such as useless images, Plugins that are not really necessary, and such. That will skim things down, too.
If all of these don’t change things, take your business somewhere else. But you are not alone.
Im honored to have you comment in here.
I tried to update all of my plugins, only a few (2/3 plugins) were not updated cos there weren’t any by the author. I dont use UTW and the translator, so i think i should be on the fine line.
I am thinking of abandoning ship and move off to somewhere better, do you have any recommendations, Lorelle?
I’m also on the long hunt for a new web host. I’m horribly unhappy with my own.
However, this might not be an issue of abandoning ship. Really take a look at EVERYTHING you have on your blog and within your blog’s Theme. While they might be cool, the Shoutbox, MyBlogLog, and all the ads and other gadgets and widgets you have take their toll on your blog’s server and database. I’ve heard of many who removed the Shoutbox and MyBlogLog and got back a lot of the speed and action on their blog, as well as reduced the hits on your server.
Many are finding that too many ads are causing problems, so they are removing some or using better placement on the few they limit their blog to, maximizing exposure while reducing server hits.
The Plugins and tweaks you may have made to the template files, like the Most Recent Comments, shoutbox, polls, Technorati tags, shots of the month, most recent posts, all of those make hits on your database, pounding away each time someone views a page. They all add up.
Before you start the host server hunt, really consider shrinking down the toys and see how it goes with your server.
Or pay your server more to get increased database access and usage and server usage. That keeps you in the same place, but gives you more “breathing” room.
I say all this because moving to a new host may bring your current problems to the new host, not resolving anything and making you an even more miserable blogger by wasting everyone’s time, including yours. And your money!
Been there, done that, feel so stupid.
