One freaking hour to get the heck out of Vivocity, can you freaking believe it?
Everyone was trying to get out at the same time. I have never experienced this at Vivocity before, cos i usually get out at around 1 or 2am (midnight movie). Yesterday, me and the missus decided to catch an earlier movie slot.

I parked at the 5th level and obviously we had 4 levels down to go. It was terrible i tell ya!

Cars from the above level and current level fighting for a chance on the Wheel Of Fortune.
Me! Me! I’m first! No, I’m first!

The whole ordeal took about 50 plus++ minutes that led to me wondering what caused the hold up, and how it can be rectified.
What can solve this phenomenon.
- Every driver to take turn to get down.
- A red/green go ahead system.
- Active traffic/carpark wardens
- If only it connects to the other main carpark, more entrance/exit choice.
I know this isn’t the worst situation ever, but its the most irritating one!
How about you? Do you have any terrible traffic experience before?
(You can include overseas experience too, like the infamous KL jam/etc)

try getting your car out of the carpark at Indoor Stadium, AFTER a concert… e.g. Jackie Chueng…
thats a good one. or how about right after the national day parade. major roads closed! nightmareeeeee…
I have driven to Vivo-jam-city and have driven out without leaving my car because I couldn’t find parking. I absolutely hate to drive there but I love the mall too much. So I usually cab it.
This is off-tangent, but I took a cab to Vivo-jam-city once and the taxi driver, who claimed he was new – took me from Woodlands to CHANGI via the PIE and then took the ECP to the mall. He kept saying he missed the exits. In the end, my cab fare was like $34. Like, uncle, get a GPS system already!
Have you tried the car park at Centrepoint on a Sat night? Absolute shite.
Picture this: split sections, so either go up 5 floors or basement parking. The gantry is at the only entrance, and once in you decide for yourself whether to go up or down (no “car park lots remaining” signage to help you), and get this, there are exit gantries for the basement carpark and the high floor car parks! So if basement full and you want to go upstairs, you have to pay twice!
On the Saturday night, matters were compounded by the sheer number of cars. I swear there were way more cars in the car park than parking lots! Worse thing was after half an hour of trying to find a lot, i gave up and was charged 2 bucks! Worse still, there was a queue outside the car park waiting to get in!!
Note to self: NEVER PARK AT CENTREPOINT
dramamama: $34 is ridiculous la! No offence to cabbies out there, but i hate that “which way do you want to go” question.
its like a mandatory question posed by the taxi association! You’re the freaking cabby godammit. Not everyone know their roads.
Zeenie:Alright, Centrepoint, noted! Paying twice because the basement is full, is bullshit i tell ‘ya
I would advise if you’re going there, to park at Harbourfront instead. and before going out, to see if there’s a lot of people going out.
thank God for 2-wheelers. sheesh!
Lemme guess~ It was Friday nite (15 Jun 07) rite?
I was there too~ Left at 2230H and was stuck for almost an hour too~
I
And I drive an old manual haha~
You might wanna try parking at the other car park ie e one closer to Harbourfront. Everytime i drive over to Vivo, i always park there cuz i encounter e same prob as u when i park at e first car park. At the other carpark, there are 2 exits u can choose from so its better. In case u dont know which one im referring to, its e one where when u see e first car park, go straight pass it, pass e bustop, at the traffic light, turn left btwn vivo and harborfront.
oh and btw, parking at e other car park i recommended is better cuz whichever mall exit u pick, u’ll be brought directly up within vivo unlike e carpark you were in tt brings u all ard e outskirts of e building first and then into vivo. cheers!
amazing that the planers of this new mall didn’t take into consideration the amount of potential traffic they would have.
And the worst thing is in my opinion, Vivo is so overrated!!!
You get lost for an hour, shop around for an hour, eat something for an hour and leave the place in another hour!
Thanks for the warning bro. I’ll remember that when I drive to Vivo. *gulp!* 1 hour …. sheesh!!
tish:harbourfront! noted!
cven:no it was Saturday, 10pm’ish.
elmosim:thanks for the directions. im always wondering where the other carpark was. im always on the road along the shipping area.
mark:very true my friend!
ed:vivo is hyped because its is new. lets just wait a few more months k.
moby: you’re welcome moby!
Thanks for the heads up. luckily my bf’s on 2 wheels. sometimes it’s just better (and safer) to take public transport. Post-ERP timings at Orchard can be really bad.
My bf and I were stuck in a jam from Orchard all the way till City Hall (we were trying to get to Marina Square from Wheelock Place) 2 Saturdays ago.
It was hell. Dangerous, irritating, hot, etc etc. Cars were cutting lanes everywhere. We couldn’t squeeze through between the traffic properly. When we reached the end of the jam, we saw that majority of the cars were waiting to enter Raffles City’s carpark. What event caused it I don’t know but it sure as hell sucked.
Stuck in a jam really sucks isn’t it? Especially on weekend. Arghhhhhh!!! Better take public transportation instead
juz_A_gal: I agree. Post-ERP timing can be a bitch.
and about the jam that was at raffles city, my best bet is that the driver didnt had a cashcard with him.
Syaf: hey thanks for dropping by!
it sure sucks man. especially if you’re driving an old manual car.
Bo Take MRT NEL ish better bo
