Mission Possible with GadgetTrak

Filed under: Reviews, Tech Talk, Web/Net | Author: Mr Malique. | Article posted on October 8, 2007

I’ve been using BAK2u GadgetTrak for a week now and i’m loving it. GadgetTrak is another product of Bak2u by the guy himself, Paddy Tan. So what is BAK2u GadgetTrak? It is an anti-theft software that works for almost every gadgets you have. Ipod, pda, phones. There is also a version for anything related to USB. So if have any devices that has usb flash(or storage) connectivity, this is the only anti-theft device for you! It works on cameras and SD cards too, that is such a turn on. :)

gadget trakRegistration was a breeze. Registering a device was also simple! To make the software work, you have to place the Agent Files in your device. To install the Agent Files, you need to unzip them and then copy the directories into THE ROOT of your USB device. If the files are put in directory it will not work. Each device has their own custom download.

gadget trakSo i wanted to try it and pretend i lost my Meizu. Touch wood! hehe. All i had to do was enable tracking and voila! The minute I connect the player to the pc, the software is instantly activated by a cleverly disguised application. It also autoruns. So what if the thief knows about the autorun application and bypass it? The device is activated in 3 ways.

  1. Autorun prompt
  2. Accessing the drive directly
  3. Opening the cleverly disguised application called PASSWORD

GadgetTrak sends you an email once the device has been tracked. Back in the control panel, you can view the tracking report.

Omg, omg! I felt like Ethan Hunt! *cues in Mission Impossible theme song* Map, IP address, location!

With these information you can print out the report and report it to the Police for them to work with the relevant service provider. With the IP address (just think Odex case), it can trace back to the user’s information that the service provider will have

BAK2u GadgetTrak is available online. Seriously, get it guys. Especially photographers with extremely expensive DSLR.

Someone buy me a Canon 40D, please?
