The missus was working yesterday (boo! on a weekend?!) so i decided to pick her up from work and have dinner somewhere near her office.
I love the Biopolis. Its like a civilization of its own. A mini science/tech city filled with geeks. Another thing i love bout the place is how they name their buildings. If you work in Biopolis, you’d know what im talking about!
I took this picture from Helios. (haha, son of Greek Titans) Geeks!
Other building names include Centros, Genome, Matrix ; among others. Now how cool is that! “Oh, i work in the Matrix…with Neo.” Haha!
We decided to meet Mr Raj for dinner. I’m surprised restaurants at the Biopolis are open on weekends! I mean, if you work there you’d know that the Biopolis is a ghost town on weekends. I don’t mean real ghost. Its so empty, i could jay walk all day long! Some restaurants are so empty, you could see their staff gleaming away for not having to work!
Anyways, back to Raj. Raj Restaurant is a big hit with the missus’s colleagues. (hi Nava, Soundaram, Carol, Pei Fen, and <insert names i missed out here> ) So i decided to check them out. Nice place i must say, but lacking of decor. The food? Lets cut to the chase people!

Cheese Rava Dosai
No idea what Rava is (someone enlighten me please?) but its supposed to be the crispier dosai version. It looks good, and it taste so oh umm umm good. That green thing you see on the upper left, don’t ask me cos i have no idea what it is! But it tasted good! hehe

Garlic and Butter Naan
How can we not have naan. I love naans. Garlic, butter, plain, give it to me!
They were purrrrrfect! Next, some dips!

These dips are to die for. The one you see here is made out of Chickpeas. How can chickpeas taste so good! Omg! The one you can’t see back there is made out of cottage cheese. Umm, yum! Alright, desert please!

Kulfi
Kulfi is somewhat like a sorbet, with no fruits.
Its tagged as the indian ice cream. Made out of (which i guessed from taste) milk and spices, this dessert is a whole new experience. Its kinda tangy, minty, rich and topped with finely chopped nuts. And i think i spotted a few strands of saffron. Niceeeeeeee! Saffron is not cheap ok. Good saffron can cost $xxxx and that’s for a few strands!
And lastly, we ended with the obligatory Lassi. Mango lassi. Lastly, lassi. That rhymes.
So what was the damage, you might ask. Surprisingly, this is the cheapest i’ve ever eaten in an Indian restaurant. Trust me. If you’re looking for a non-crowded (you know how crowded lil’ India is on weekends!) place that serves both North and South Indian cuisine, with great wait staffs, give Raj a try. This is not a paid review by Raj but Mr. Raj if you’re reading, i’ll be looking forward to your naans! Ok that doesn’t sound right!
This is Mr. Malique signing off, be good and be nice! Chao!
If you enjoyed this post, go ahead and subscribe!
Oh-ho! Malique tak puasa!
marina, you’re early!
dinner my dear, dinner. we were the only one listening to Warna (on my trusty meizu!) waiting for the guy on radio announcing “Ok ya’ll can eat, yo!” The wait staff gave us a weird look. haha!
Nice shot!
oh man why do i have to read this before buka … keke
mmmmmmmm
Mmmmm… i love naans.
The green stuff you have no idea what it is…? Agaknya wasabi, tak? Hahahha.
North & South Indian cuisine with Japanese mixes! Woot!
ok, called me sua koooooo… where the hack is biopolis??? it sounds very new york, kind… wahahahhahaha…. eh, i happened to like this mango LASSI from komalas!!! so this place, is better, i bet?
Leong, thanks!
sha: im sorry dude!!
kenny: naans are great! better then roti prata.
zul: nah, it cant be wasabi..but it was a lil spicy though. Green chili perhaps?
eddy: biopolis is located behind the MOE Hq, on the hills. Right next to it is the big ass NTU Alumni house. Nearest Mrt would be Buona Vista. The lassi, is average. i’ve never had a out-of-this-world lassi, so yeah. i dont really like komalas for its fast food theme. but i love indian food! i think i was supposed to be born indian!
*drool* I havent had my share of Naan for this year’s Ramadhan. last year, almost every week. (note to self: get some naan with marc on wednesday.)
btw, where on earth is biopolis?
one of my clients have a branch there, so whenever I do their ads, they always have “biopolis” in their listings. yet, I have no idea where it is.
ok, ignore my last question, i just read your replies. pfft. *doh!*
hello tish! i’m glad you solved your own question.
Map added for your convenience.
Don’t get lost, get Google!
(google reps, isnt that a cool tagline?)
ah indian food!!
the last time i had some was at a restaurant near mustafa, and the decor was filled with poster telling u why humans are supposed to be herbivorous. [well a vegetarian restaurant, d'uh~~]
which was “wtf!!”
but on the hand, that green paste thingee looks like henna.
and when i see this images , im seeing the m1 new ad.
bahahhhaha
wah, delicious! my fav dish is the chickpeas but eat naan must die2 with butter chicken, if not, macam tak complete!
btw, i had lunch at biopolis before, i was on course at the NTU alumni building. explored the whole place during lunch, had to climb down the hill to biopolis and climb up again to the alumni building, had a great workout before and after lunch!
noi: hahaha green propaganda?! haha wtf!
izadd: dude the NTU Alumni house is so big, i lost 5 kg going up. haha. where did you had lunch at biopolis? the foodcourt is not bad too u know. and the rest of the eateries too!

OH THAT ONE! hahaha…what a cracker.
haha.. the other time my colleagues during internship ate at one of the food place in biopolis, and one of them got picked up by this geek. Like, geek geek.
And she simply replied, “Are you doing a survey?” I laughed me arse off.
I think buona vista area is a place with the highest concentration of geeks ah.
hush it down man! i have visitors from A*Star!
*chuckles*
malique, i went to a foodcourt somewhere there, but the food wasn’t that enticing, so on the second day, we decided to go all the way to holland v, had one of the best 2 and half hour lunch there! by the time we returned back to class, it was almost time for teabreak, haha!!
Love your image of naan bread, and i’ve posted it with a link back to you on my blog. Please let me know if that’s not cool and I’ll take it down.
Thanks
Dan
