Perhentian Island – The Review (Part 1)
We arrived in Kuala Besut at around 7am, after taking the 12hour bus ride from Lavender the day before. It was a bumpy ride alright. I was dumb and numb. Should have taken a flight instead. So while waiting for the Tunabay mainland office to open, we had a nasi lemak breakfast somewhere, with super sweet chili sambal.
We were greeted by a local, who looks very Malay, but with an Australian accent. I was wondering “Are we in Besut or the Outback?” Haha, really! The guy had an Australian accent, very much like the late Steve Irwin! “Maybe that is protocol, just to add up to the experience”, i thought to myself. Hur hur hur.
It was already drizzling the moment we stepped our foot onto Perhentian Island. I was kinda disappointed. Who wouldn’t? But we managed to get an early check-in!
Perhentian Besar Island is the perfect getaway for simply appreciating the nature, and of course relaxing and suntanning your butt off. The pace here is very relaxed. Even the staff of the resort, you can see that they enjoy working there. The staff of Tunabay was very accommodating, very friendly and most important of all, they know our needs.
Rooms were average air conditioned huts, fitted with glass doors. Kinky!
I must admit that i’ve been a naughty boy. I didn’t heed my doctor’s warning and i went snorkeling. Yikes! But it was a worthwhile decision.
Im a snorkel-virgin, i must say that im hooked on it!

Greetings … blog-hopped here through Moby’s. Does the electricity in Tunabay run 24 hours or stop at certain times like some other resorts? Nice pics btw.

thanks for dropping by!
Im glad someone asked that question.
Power will shutdown for just 5 seconds at 8am every morning. Tunabay is quite an established resort there, so my best bet is during that 5 seconds, they change the source of power.
Hope to see you again!

Glad to know that. Contemplating going to Perhentian Besar Island. Sibu Island Resort actually shuts down their power supply from 3am to 9am, so am now more wary of such things. Post the pics soon.

We had a very fantastic family trip in Perhentian Island. Everything was great. The crystal-clear water, the resort which is Tunabay Resort to be specific, the food was great, the people there and others. We would like to share our great experience there with you. We really loved our stay at Perhentian Island especially at Tunabay Resort. We would like to recommend to anyone who is planning to have a great holiday in an island, please don’t hesitate to come to Perhentian Island.
